Teaching is the Lighting of a Fire ToteStately Type
The Stately Type Teaching is the Lighting of a Fire tote features the hand-lettered phrase, "Teaching is not the filling of a vessel but the lighting of a fire" in white over hand-drawn orange flames on a navy blue 100% cotton canvas tote.
The original quote that we're paraphrasing in this design comes from Plutarch: "For the correct analogy for the mind is not a vessel that needs filling, but wood that needs igniting." A similar version of the quote is often attributed to William Butler Yeats, but as far as we can tell, he never actually said it. Either way, it's a great quote! Thanks to @mamasellis, @blairasay, and @willardfam05 for bringing it to our attention!
