Last night we said a very tearful goodbye to our across-the-street neighbors who are moving all the way across the country! 💔 And even though that first picture doesn’t look like it, we are all so sad! 😭 I *think* I have finally stopped crying about it (for the most part).
Remember my This is the Place (Utah) quilt that I was working on last month and shot in front of Double Arch? It was for these guys (2nd pic). I couldn’t *not* make them their very own quilt to remember their time here. And also to subliminally convince them to come back! 😁 It was fun to include some fabrics that have extra meaning (like the Salt Lake City Temple where they were married), and of course, BYU Football fabric. 💙
Last night after our sad goodbye, I reminded Gwen (our 12-year old who was BFFs with their oldest) of that Dr. Seuss quote, “Don’t cry that it’s over, smile because it happened” …ironically, through tears of my own. Sigh. And now I’m crying again.
P.S. Thanks to my ever favorite quilt holder-upper, @statelytype (3rd pic).
P.P.S. And thanks to Debbie @hobblecreekquilting for quilting this for me in a jif! She used a hexagon panto to represent Utah, “the Beehive State.” 👌
